Time is of the essence! The goal is 500-1000 signatures by Wednesday evening. So please share this message with others.
BACKGROUND INFORMATION:
The Utah State Child Care Licensing Advisory Committee has been studying a proposal from the Utah Private Child Care Association to increase adult child ratios and group size and decrease square footage requirements for child care centers. The final proposal may include making the increased ratios conditional upon the lead teacher having a CDA. This committee will vote on this issue: Thurs., Nov. 14, 9:30 - 12:00 Noon, Cannon Health Building/Room 128, 288 North 1460 West in Salt Lake City. This is a public meeting and you are welcome to attend.
Join us in supporting the NAEYC position statement on Licensing and Public Regulation of Early Childhood program which states that primary benefit from public regulation of the child care and early education market is to ensure children’s rights to care settings that protect them from harm and promote their healthy development.
We envision a community where EVERY child’s potential is realized. To that end we are committed to working towards a strong early care and education system and believe that national standards published in “Caring for Our Children” (p. 24) are possible as outlined by the American Academy of Pediatrics, American Public Health Association, and National Resources Center for Health and Safety in Child Care and Early Education.
