URGENT: PLEASE READ - NAPNAP MEETING

Posted about 7 years ago by Meagan Barrows

Good afternoon!

Thank you to all who attended our recent state chapter conference! It was great to see so many of you there, and hope you enjoyed the new venue, new food, all of our vendors, and fantastic speakers.

We have a few urgent issues that we as a chapter need to address, so I've set a business meeting for Tuesday, October 10 at 6:15 pm at Cafe on First. The topic of this meeting will be the continuation of this chapter.

We still do not have a president elect to take over when my term is done in June 2018. We have reached out to many people individually whom we believed to be great candidates for the position, and we have not been able to secure anyone to take over this role. A sign up-sheet was circulated at conference for those interested in volunteering and while I did receive two names for people interested in committees (which is great!), we did not get a single name for anyone interested in volunteering for board positions.

Now, I understand that a board position isn't for everyone. But, these aren't new issues here. Our member numbers are continuing to dwindle with time, and member participation in committees, chapter events (like CE dinners), and volunteering for board positions is almost non-existent. The reality is that if we do not have people volunteering to take over these board positions and participate in our chapter, then we are without leadership. If we are without leadership, I do not believe that we can sustain this chapter and it will dissolve.

Therefore, we need to come together as a chapter and professional organization to discuss these issues, and we will also review various responsibilities of each board position and committee so everyone is aware of what these positions actually entail.

As a fellow practitioner, I KNOW that we are ALL busy. So we must ask ourselves, how important is NAPNAP to us and do we want to continue this chapter. If this chapter is important to you, then we all need to participate and come together to keep this going. If you want to see our chapter continue, please come to the meeting on October 10 to discuss with your fellow chapter members.

Please contact me for any questions or concerns. For some of you this may be a duplicate message, as I've sent personal e-mails to active members. My number is 317-413-2695, email utnapnap@gmail.com. Please text or email me and let me know if you will be attending so I can have an estimated head count ahead of time.

Hope to see you all there.
Best,

Meagan Barrows
